Changbaishan Canyon

The Changbaishan Canyon (Changbaishan daxiagu) is an emerging attraction that started to draw people's attention just a few years ago. The Chinese guide books and guides in this area wax lyrical about the canyon, often comparing it to its counterpart across the Pacific, the Colorado Grand Canyon, although this is claim that is a little exaggerated.

The 70km long canyon is still worth a walk along. The canyon is a result of violent crust movement in the wake of several volcanoes. After centuries of erosion the rocks and sides of this canyon are oddly shaped, forming one of the strangest and longest rockeries in the world.
