The beginning of the ascent up Mount Tai begins at the Daizong Archway (daizong fang), located to the north of the Dai Temple. A temple was first built here during the reign of the Emperor Jiaqing during the Ming Dynasty 500 years ago. The archway is built on a base of 4 pillars and 3 gates. Close by here, is the Heavenly Queen Pool (Wangmu Chi) from where you can see the river.
