Qingdao,
an old port city situated on the Southern coast of
Shandong, is a quaint and popular spot. It lies between
mountain and sea, a well-chosen coastal port with
clear deep waters and a comfortable climate.
There are many interesting sights in the mountains,
centered around the mystical Laoshan. Qingdao owns
China's best northern beach resort as well. What's
more, as a German concession taken in 1897 and ceded
for a total of 99 years, the city retains much of
its colonial architecture and charm. German influence
is impressive in town planning, lush wooded avenues
and some of China's best parks.

Beer Festival (August 12-26)
When Germans arrived in Qingdao in the eras of concessions,
they found it unbearable not having beer. So they
imported the best facilities from their homeland to
make the best beer in Qingdao. Tsingdao beer is produced
locally from the pure Laoshan water and was established
in 1903.

Favorite Spots
A quiet corner
In fact the less know attractions are more tempting.
I think the place most worth visiting is the Sculpture
Park on Donghai Road. No entrance fee, few people,
and the beaches and sea surface are clean as well.
One could make sand sculptures leisurely and have
a bath in the sea water.

2 day Qingdao Tour
The first day
Have sea food at the sea side of the Rock Old Man(Shi
Laoren Yanshi). There are many sea food restaurants.
All the sea food are collect from the sea nearby of
the very day. Then go to the most famous bar of Qingdao:
New York Bar at the crossing of Hongkong Road and
Fuzhou Road.
The second day
In the morning, have porridge as breakfast. Most porridge
restaurants are on Minjiang Road. Then go to Zhanqiao
Bridge. Have a ride there for about 10 minutes. In
less windy days, you would probably enjoy your journey
more. Then take Bus 316 to go to the No. 1 Bathing
Beach. It is a place very suitable for swimming, but
you'd better go there in the end of June or July.
After swimming, walk along to Huashi Building. It
is a western style little villa with open air balconies.
Standing on these balconies the sea looks spectacular.
Then have a stroll to May 4th Square.
